A new title and artwork is born for the next Indian / Tibetan ambient excursion....  This follows in spirit behind my first dedicated I/T release "Mankiala Stupa Aura" and will be titled Nyingmapa - named after the oldest of the schools of Tibetan Buddhism...  Something about striking a Tibetan bowl..........................................................................................................................(yep, the sound lasts longer than the span of those dots and taps into your soul)...  The overtones and resonance is otherworldly, and has not been captured enough in ambient recordings...  Lately, I've been experimenting live with the app Samvada - it literally puts you into a trance when flipping on the "mic" input and set the sympathetic drones to capture the nature around you.  Magical...  Cool news - it will be prominent on the Indian influence of the recording, which I cannot wait to share...  The photo is by a Chinese amateur nicknamed "littlexu" and I find the photo mesmerizing... We've always wanted to travel to Nepal/Tibet/Bhutan/India - but seeing a photo like this almost makes you feel like you are there...

 

Summer's almost here....  I plan to walk the beach each early morning and evening collecting negative ions (they're good for you...), checking out nature, and as usual, being hypnotized by the sounds that come with the ocean... ah...  I'm taking along my trusty-beatup-cheapo gut string classical guitar and a laptop armed with sound altering goodies.  So, it is an acoustic / nature summer....!  Lot's of sound-food will come from this, and will be documented in recordings for the next year.  Previously planned projects of 2013 (some already well under way) will be scooted to end of year and/or possibly 2014.  Not enough time, I'm afraid, to bring infinite amount of musical ideas to digital reality...  It has been a year since leaving - and, it will be great coming back to our home of a couple decades to visit a while........................

Hmmm.... well, life is funny - as we know, and those who don't - are watching reality shows...

Crazy stuff - I've heard over and over again from non-math people (aka non-nerds) that math people tend to gravitate to math jobs and be musicians.  I've never pondered this -now known fact- :-p - but there may be some truth to this.  I never mix art with business, and, it's time to break the rules ---- I am a member of NAAIM (google NAAIM) = a bunch of concerned active investment advisors navigating the rough seas of the markets for the last (insert number) years...  Now, what the hell does that have to do with music??  ---  I went to CO, and hung with my peeps --- concerned male nerds, with a few beautiful female nerds thrown in - with big thumping hearts because they care about their clients...  Musicians are the same way, generally big thumping hearts hiding behind hair extensions, tattoos, nose rings (with snot) - but trying to do their best with their audience.  So, without trying, I met over a dozen NAAIM members who are math people and musicians in the past week = pretty good odds the non-nerds are right!

Hmmm... things happen when you least expect it/them in the art creation world...  That's what I like about it so much...  Some of my inspirational musicians in the past and present have this -  ==== "BAM!!!, now I need to create this thing I didn't know existed until I sat on the toilet, sat at a red light, etc." you get my drift... === and, I share that right since I don't have some music exec breathing down my neck...  So, for fun, as winds of 25-40 MPH were blowing around a couple of weeks ago, I decided to record the sounds of the pine needles, various chimes, water sources, leaves, clanging objects, etc. and gathered enough sound-food to create a full length recording ----- sometimes, that's all it takes ------ of course, it will hit my sound design, holographic, and mixing mutation soon...

It wasn't on the radar - and will be called Which Craft? - going down the alien road for fun...since I've been abducted and was returned quickly without ransom.... ;-)

Definitely for those hoards of civilizations that bought "Amphibialien," "Under Canopy," "Otherwordly Natural" via fine digital retailers...  As a bonus, I promise to keep my shirt on in the airports and my pants snuggly hugging my waist - I pleaded with Justin Bieber to tone it down, but he just wouldn't listen...................
