Wow.... I'm tardy... much music since the last post...
The coolest by far is the second collaboration with Calvin Weston.... I'll say it again --- unbelievable union --- he has been one of my favorite drummers since the early 80's. Him, Ronald Shannon Jackson, Jack DeJohnette, Han Bennink, Tony Oxley.... etc etc.... However, a couple of years ago - we connected on facebook and we decided to work within a highly improv, jazz-rock-fusion music-scape.... well, not really - he supplied the drums and said "do your thang..."... NO ZONE was the result - and it was so fun.... HOPEFUL SOULS is the latest effort - but this time, instruments from around the world seeped in along with the driving fusion... I am very happy with both - and cosmically elated to work with one of my drum idols I was banging my head to 35+ years ago...!!!!

Welcome to the blog home of Ian Naismith, experimental ethnoambient composer. His music is an amalgam of acoustic ethnic, world electric, ambient, progressive rock, and jazz fusion wrapped within a fourth world vibe. Guitars, stringed instruments, loops, textures & treatments, and percussion from all over the world abound in the recordings.
