Death of "Deepest Blue" on the South African iTunes top 100 ambient chart....
Damn... I was hoping to compete with Pink Floyd's "Dark Side Of The Moon" run on Billboards Top 200 Albums.... But... "Deepest Blue" - one my favorite recordings I've put out there - finally fell off the South African ambient top 100 charts - it hung in there for 3 years & 4 months.... I'm glad the folks from SA dig it... In fact, I've been a big fan of South African rock / ethnic for decades ==== Trevor Rabin, Rabbitt, Seether, Ladysmith Black Mombazo, Juluku, Johnny Clegg... etc. etc... Karma, I guess....
Welcome to the blog home of Ian Naismith, experimental ethnoambient composer. His music is an amalgam of acoustic ethnic, world electric, ambient, progressive rock, and jazz fusion wrapped within a fourth world vibe. Guitars, stringed instruments, loops, textures & treatments, and percussion from all over the world abound in the recordings.

As usual, lots of ideas.... I will be in ambient mode for a while - and I like it... I anticipate 6-10 recordings in 2017 --- kinda in line with the past few years... I feel lucky to have music ideas in my addled brain regularly ;-)
There will be a new release with Calvin Weston soon --- it was recorded a few months back - impromptu, impulsive, creative --- it is called "Hopeful Souls" owed to what I believe the world has continued to mold itself into - at the collective level... It rocks, swings, bops, interstellars... ;-P = I am very happy with the results.... Calvin is incredible at banging on things, and I am fortunate to work with a legend at the skins...
